Day 44 Sidmouth to Seaton 08.06.2011

A brief blog tonight as it is late and I’m very tired!

Lovely walk today with my sister, Carol for company. A bit of a rude awakening for her with a pretty tough morning’s troop to Branscombe over Salcombe and Weston Hills!

The lovely Kate and Paul greeted us at The Sea Shanty with fresh lemonade and gifts for Fizzy and where we had a scrumptious lunch of whitebait.

After lunch or rather during lunch the Wednesday Walkers from Sidmouth joined us on the next stage to Beer! So the team was then me, Fizzy, Russell, Carol, Kate, Janet, Pat, Sue, Sue, Jo, Carol, Brenda, Judy, and Eunice (sorry if I’ve fogotten anyone!). What a team of gals! They whizzed on ahead leaving us trembling in their wake but we had a lot of laughs and thoroughly enjoyed their company!

Thank you all for your generous donation to CHSW and especially for the tea on Beer beach where Eunice and I penned a limerick!

There once was a man called Russell,
Who used to have a bustle,
To have quite a laugh,
He walked the coastpath,
And now it has all turned to muscle!

The lady walkers left us and we continued with Kate over to Seaton ‘ole, Seaton and on to Axmouth walking up the estuary. The weather was delightful again and scenery stunning! We coiffed a small beer in the Harbour Inn before going to Stepp House where we are staying tonight!

We have been wined and dined in fine style by the charming Pat and Dave Tresize and are now settled into very comfy beds!

I only hope Fizzy behaves herself down in the kitchen or else it’s Topsy for me and she in the middle of the night!

Here are a few words to sum up our day:

Samphire
Big Hills
Lemonade
Deck chairs
Finish lass
Harbour Inn
Old bridge in dispatches
High end, special occasion
Tram
Cottage pie
Old friends
Laughter
Rude jokes
Van keys!

Tomorrow’s destination is Seatown.

Lessons learnt today:

1. Sometimes girls make excellent stick throwers!

2. Which is the fastest bird? A peregrine falcon or a gannet? (Gannet on a stick for Henry Piper!)

3. Fanny Craddock would no more put eggs in a fridge than she would a baby!
